Scripps Ranch High School Music program is fortunate to have one of the finest collection of skilled and experienced staff to teach our students and help them achieve their individual best. With over 100 years of collective experience they are dedicated to guiding students’ growth as performers and people.
Russell Shedd – Program Director
Director of the music program, which includes the Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Color Guard, Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble at Scripps Ranch High School for over 20 years.
Cameron Brown – Assistant Director
Cameron, Director of Instrumental Music, Thurgood Marshall Middle School, is in his 20th year of teaching music; his 13th at Marshall. He earned his Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from San Diego State University in 2006, and in 2011 received his Master’s of Music in Instrumental Conducting from the American Band College (ABC) of Sam Houston State University.
During his career, Cameron has taught at both the middle and high school levels and has been recognized for his work several times. His performing ensembles have consistently earned “Superior” festival ratings throughout his career. In 2010, Mr. Brown was awarded the David Paul Schuchman Award by the San Diego Unified School District as the Outstanding Instrumental Music Educator of the Year. In 2012, he was awarded the Fortissimo Choice Award by CMEA’s Southern Border Section. CMEA’s Southern Border Section also recognized Mr. Brown as the Outstanding Middle School Music Specialist for the 2017 – 2018 school year.
Mr. Brown mentors many future music educators through San Diego State University’s teacher credentialing program and Music Education Fellowship program
Giovanni Ayon – Color Guard & Winter Guard Director
Color Guard & Winter Guard Visual Caption Head. Gio has over 20 years of teaching and performance experience, including 15 years teaching at Scripps Ranch HS. As part of his professional experience he has marched with Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps, and currently performs with Hesita Independent Winter Guard.
Cassandra Jones – Color Guard & Winter Guard Staff
Cassandra has over 20 years of performance experience marching Fantasia and the Cascade Drum & Bugle Corps, and currently performs with Hesita Independent Winter Guard. She is a Yoga instructor and brings elements of yoga and breathwork to enhance the students’ instruction.
Gabriel Bustamante – Percussion Director
Battery Director & Battery Visual Caption Head. Gabe has 10 years of performance and teaching experience. He has marched with Pulse Percussion and is currently on the staff of Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps and San Marcos High School.
Taylor Brown – Percussion Director
Front Ensemble (aka Pit) Director. Taylor is a graduate of California State Long Beach
Michael Remish – Brass Staff
Michael is a professional trumpet player with extensive professional experience with top symphonies in the United States. His also has the distinction of being a Scripps Ranch High School alumni.
